THE CELLARS-HOHENORT, CAPE TOWN

Cape Town
The Cellars-Hohenort, is ideally situated as a central point from which to experience Cape Town in all its majesty, including Cape Point, Robben Island, Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the Constantia Valley Wine Route, the famous beaches of Boulders and the azure waters of Camps Bay. A mere fifteen-minute drive around the foot of the Eastern slope of Table Mountain will export you to the hustle and bustle in the centre of the city and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.
Let’s Go Outside
Discovering the outdoors begins in the nine-acre garden at The Cellars-Hohenort, which features the second-oldest camphor trees in South Africa, an enchanted forest, a vineyard, secret doorways, a rose garden and so much more. Regular garden tours are conducted for guests, uncovering the magic of one of the world’s most beautiful privately owned gardens.
The Gourmet Meader
Start your food-and-drink adventure at The Cellars-Hohenort itself at The Conservatory. Then from this location guests can explore the surrounding valley, which forms South Africa’s most historic wine region. Make your way through the mountain side of green corridors and trees for some of South Africa’s best wines. Many of these wine estates boast world-class restaurants, too.

THE MARINE, HERMANU

Hermanus
Famous for whale watching, beaches and nature, as well as its food and wine scene, Hermanus really is a destination that ticks all the boxes: a palpable history, thriving art scene, boutique shopping and busy programme of festivals, concerts and events. The region around Hermanus, known as the Overberg, is an area of natural contrasts, from the deep green apple orchards of Elgin to the sweeping canola fields of Caledon, and the rugged mountainous coast where marine life flourishes.
Outdoor lover’s dream
Hermanus is synonymous with land-based whale watching, and guests of The Marine can enjoy this pastime from the comfort of their own suites, or on a cliff walk in front of the hotel. Feeling a bit more adventurous? Then take to the seas, with kayaking or boat tours that will take you right up close to the southern right whales. Alternatively get a bird’s-eye view of the gentle giants with a scenic flight over Walker Bay.
Art, History & Culture on the Coast
The Marine has been a part of Hermanus’ history almost from the very beginning. The hotel was first built in 1902, with a modest 21 rooms. In its fledgling years, Hermanus was a fishing village – a heritage that is still very much in evidence today. Spend a day uncovering the history of this beautiful coastal town – museums are all within easy walking distance of The Marine, so you can explore the town on foot at the same time.

THE PLETTENBERG, GARDEN ROUTE

Plettenberg bay

Gastronomy on the Garden Route
The menu at ‘The Restaurant at The Plettenberg’ was designed by the Executive Chef, Kyle Macaskill. The restaurant offers breathtaking views of Formosa Bay and delicious, seasonal cuisine that showcases the bay. Gourmet travelers will discover many hidden gems when exploring the Garden Route – amongst them Fynboshoek Cheese. Bramon Wines was the first estate to produce wine in Plettenberg Bay; it is situated in The Crags, a beautiful, mountainous area. Try their bubbly at a tasting, or order a bottle with lunch: tapas-style dishes served at tables in the vineyard.
Bays, Beaches and Beautiful Forests
The Plettenberg, perched on a rocky headland overlooking endless views of ocean, mountain and beaches, offers the ultimate base from which to explore the variety of outdoor activities. Plettenberg Bay boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in South Africa, where activities such as surfing, kayaking and skimboarding are popular.
